Working towards a demo - devlog #3
Progress has been slow but steady in the last week. I'm currently writing my thesis, so although I'm spending a lot of time in front of a computer it mostly hasn't been on Grimmsteps.
I've added a couple of new features though. Firstly I now have some pretty awesome chests spawning randomly, and you can equip what's inside (which at the moment is 100% spears)
Secondly, I've been working on randomly placing the gateways to the next area in the procedurally generated level, so you can actually progress! I don't have this 100% yet. Currently the doorway replaces a couple of "wall" spaces on the grid, however I have to add some more logic to make sure this happens on the outside of the level and not a couple of random trees by themselves!
So I wanted to write a bit about my plan to release a demo. In order to make it a fun experience and hopefully get people excited about the whole game I plan on adding a few more different enemy types, a few more friends to find and nice lot of loot to try. Then my plan is to clean up what's already there and make sure it is worthy of a play from you great guys, and start getting feedback. So hopefully not long at all, but I'm sure everyone knows the "cleaning and polishing" part can take a small while.
Until next time, have a great week :)
